From the Space Race to the Space Station:
Celebrating 50 years of exploration
November 15, 2007
Time: 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm on Thursday, November 15 2007. Toasts and
speakers begin at 7:45 pm.
Location: The historic Washington Club, at 15 Dupont Circle NW in Washington DC. The Washington Club is less than a block from the Dupont Circle Metro Station, and there is
an adjacent parking garage at 11 Dupont Circle.
Entertainment: The Jeremy Carlstedt Jazz Trio, all trained at
the prestigious
Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Many exhibits, including
ones from NASA, the Russian Cultural Centre, and Barnes & Noble, will
be available.
Guests of Honor: Yevgeny Zvedre, Senior Counselor
for Science and Technology at the Russian Embassy, will host cosmonauts and
historical commentators, including
- Cosmonaut Sergei Avdeyev, who has spent more than 2 years in space and held the world record for the "human time travel"
- Journalist Sergei Leskov of the newspaper Isvestia, who is renowned for more than 40 years of coverage of space issues
- Former Cosmonaut Vladimir Titov, Deputy Director of the Boeing Company Office in Moscow
- Dr. Lev Zelenyi, Director of the Space Research Institute for the Russian Academy of Science
- Paul Dickson, author of "Sputnik: The Shock of the Century"

cost of the tickets includes appetizer buffet, a "Sputnik martini,"
